Anglers love fishing on Hamlin Lake during the winter. Hamlin Lake is located just four miles north of Ludington in West Michigan. Ice fishing on Hamlin Lake is a great way to enjoy the winter--just set up a shanty and get ready to catch some bluegills, crappies, perch, walleye, pike and muskie. Throughout the year, Hamlin Lake and its bayous offer an outstanding variety of fish including tiger muskie, northern pike, walleye, large and small mouth bass, perch, crappie and bluegill. Lake Michigan salmon and steelhead are seasonally plentiful at the dam site within the Ludington State Park. Boat and motor rentals, launch ramps, bait, supplies, food and gas are never too far away.

Happy 2017 Hamlin Lake Anglers!
The 2017 ice fishing season is officially underway. Anglers have been getting out on some of the bayous and “parts” of Upper Hamlin for a week or two already.
ICE/WEATHER CONDITIONS VARY, so always use a spud in front of you to check the ice conditions and never go icefishing without a partner!
WILSON HILL PARK (Upper Hamlin Lake) - Is a “first ice“ hotspot and always attracts a good size crowd early in the season. I got a few reports that the ice there is anywhere from 4”- 6” thick in the area. Fishing has been fair, with some decent size Bluegills being caught. Mousies and waxworms on orange, green, chartreuse or glow teardrop jigs have been working well. A few small perch and pike are also being caught in the area. I also got a report of a couple of snowmobiles out on the ice last week.
BE SAFE and ALWAYS USE YOUR SPUD IN FRONT OF YOU!!!
Good fishing!
