It's a Pink Christmas in Ludington
When you think of traditional Christmas colors, red and green come to mind. But this year in Ludington, the town is turning pink for the holidays.
This is a community effort to promote breast cancer awareness, and to raise funds for a Woman's Imaging Center at Memorial Medical Center. Included are plans to transform a wing at the hospital just for women to receive mammograms, including new digital mammography.
Pink Christmas made its debut at the Miss Ludington Pageant November 15, where Kaley Schroeder was crowned queen. It continues with the Aglow on the Avenue Parade at 6:30pm on December 5th. Parade will start at the corner of Ludington Avenue and Gaylord, and will travel through downtown to Harrison. Prior to the parade, gather at the North James Street Plaza for caroling, hot chili, chestnuts, and the lighting of the tree. The Ludington Area Center for the Arts will have hot cider after the parade, with more caroling.
Local businesses have gotten in the spirit with storefront windows decorated in pink, along with pink lights on downtown trees. For four consecutive Fridays, November 28-December 19, downtown Ludington businesses will be open until 8pm for holiday shopping.
Let volunteers from COVE help with your gift wrapping. They'll be at BookMark on Dec. 6, 13, and 20 to wrap gifts for a donation.
Enjoy an old fashioned Christmas while you tour Ludington's historic Bed & Breakfasts December 7 from 1-5pm. All seven B&B's will be decorated for the holidays and will serve refreshments while carolers sing traditional favorites.
This Christmas--the color is pink--and the cause is good. Take some time this busy season and appreciate our beautiful town and all it has to offer.
